Ashley Shapiro is a Board Certified Educational Therapist (BCET) and a distinguished leader in the field of educational therapy. She is the Executive Director of edcahoots, a premier educational therapy practice she founded in 2010.
Ashley serves as the Director of the Certification Board for the Association of Educational Therapists (AET), where she recently authored the ethics exam for AET’s certification process. She is a former Adjunct Professor in the Department of Special Education at California State University, Northridge, a member of the Educational Therapy Advisory Board at UCSC, and a member of the Advisory Board for DopaMind, a non-profit focused on educating schools and families about digital wellness. In 2023, Ashley wrote an Ethical Dilemma Model published in Ethical Decision Making in Educational Therapy - A Practical Guide.
Ashley's extensive expertise extends beyond traditional therapy methods; she is a Wilson-trained provider and formally trained in Lindamood Bell's Seeing Stars, Visualizing and Verbalizing, the Writing Revolution, and the Alert Program. Her dedication to professional development and excellence sets her apart in the field.
Ashley holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, having completed a qualitative research study on clinicians’ preferred interventions for school-aged children with ADHD. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Bioethics from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Ashley lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their three children. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys training for marathons, trying new restaurants, reading the Sunday comics with her three children, and watching reality tv.
